Junior Braves RBI Baseball League Celebrates Opening Day At The Atlanta Braves Baseball Academy

Sponsored by Delta Airlines, the event saw Atlanta Braves player Ruben Gotay give an inspirational talk to 300 Junior Braves RBI athletes from more than 24 Metro Atlanta Boys & Girls Clubs, followed by a Home Run Derby and game.

The Junior Braves RBI Youth Baseball League is an outreach program designed to increase minority youth participation and interest in baseball, encourage academic participation and achievement, develop self-esteem and teach the value of teamwork.

Gotay participated in a home run derby with several Junior Braves athletes.

Before the game on John Smoltz Field, Gotay spoke to participants about the four points of Junior Braves Baseball: confidence; integrity; teamwork; and leadership.
